Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson two lawyers. As a young girl of just five years old when she left for Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma was aware that she was going to become an actress. For a number of years she attended the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre academy where she studied performing and singing. By the time she turned 10 Emma was a participant in multiple Stagecoach productions and school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone was the film of 2001 version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was made in 1999. Emma was discovered by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint of their auditions after eight. They were selected as three leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first film role was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. It broke all records in first-day openings and weekday openings and became the top-grossing movie of the year 2001. Reviewers have been highly acclaimed of the film as well as the performances of its three major young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British paper, called Emma's performance "amazing". Afterward, Emma was shortlisted for five prizes for her work in the film, winning the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in the Feature Film.
